Going Green
111.8 x 111.8 cms | 44 x 44 ins
oil on canvas
I wanted the feel of Going Green to be mellow, like a pleasant bit of memory. To achieve this feel, I kept the lighting muted and the setting understated (such as the polished concrete floor, light-colored background, and the weathered box).
In portraits of beloved objects such as this one, I often put boxes in the composition - not just to bolster a scene, but also as a metaphor for how we as adults “pack away” childhood emotions of play and fun. It is my hope that, through my art, you are able to recapture these feelings.
