American Painting Fine Art began in 1997 as Taylor & Sons Fine Art, owned and operated by artist Michele Martin Taylor, on Pennsylvania Av., SE, Washington, DC.  In 2002, Ms. Taylor and artist Andrei Kushnir went into business together and opened a gallery in Ellicott City, MD.  In 2004, they expanded to include a gallery in Manhattan's East Village, where Ms. Taylor relocated.  In 2006, Mr. Kushnir opened American Painting Fine Art on MacArthur Blvd., in Washington, DC.  Although Ms. Taylor moved to the Northwest US in 2009, Mr. Kushnir frequently consults with her on all aspects of the art making and exhibition process.

For 21 years the gallery was located in the Creekside Building, formerly known as the Kiln Room in the 1970s. In 2008 Carlton Gallery moved across Hwy 105 into the former Antonaccio Fine Art Gallery. "After many floods, challenges with beavers, raccoons, and a leaky roof, it was a little sad to say good-bye to the Creekside Building," Toni says, "but we are happy in our perfect home today."

Built in 1905 as a wedding present for B. Paul Mossman and his bride, the Castle is of the Richardsonian Romanesque style. Masons gathered granite boulders from fields hundreds of miles away to be used in the construction of this magnificent home which is on the National Register of Historic Places.

In 1949 Mossman gave the home to the city to become the municipal art museum. In 1983, the museum moved downtown and the castle was restored for residential use. More than a thousand gallons of stripping solution, hundreds of dental tools and hours of time were involved in returning the original cherry, oak, maple, walnut and mahogany to its present state.

Jody Hemphill Smith and Mark Paul Smith re-established the Castle as an art gallery in 1995. Since then it has featured artists from around the world.

EVOKE Contemporary has developed a strong reputation for fostering the careers of a broad spectrum of prominent artists of both the American and international art scene. In February 2017 Derek relocated the gallery from Bigfork to a historic building on Central Avenue in the heart of the Old Town District in Whitefish, 40 minutes north of the old location. After 33 years of teaching junior high English it was time for a change. I had been looking for a passion for years. I've been lucky to have been good at and enjoyed many things: teaching, literature, friendship, entertaining, shopping, decorating, collecting, and art. As I contemplated retirement from teaching, it occurred to me that many of the things I enjoy could come together in one passion -- operating an art gallery. So a year ago, I began making plans. Finally a couple of weeks after my last day of teaching, I opened the gallery doors.

More than five years have passed, and I am so glad that I took this chance and realized a dream. I've learned so much more about art and have enriched my life in countless ways. Many people who have walked through my gallery doors, artists and collectors alike, have become good friends. And the art that I have been lucky enough to surround myself with, promote, and sell has brought me and others much joy.

Hindes Fine Art’s setting, at 615 W. Ashby, is a huge attraction with a rich history. Built in 1915 by the Frost Bank family and attributed to architect Atlee B. Hirschl & Adler Galleries was founded in 1952 by Norman S. Hirschl and Abraham M. Adler. In 1967 Stuart P. Feld joined the firm as a partner, and since 1982 has served as its President. Originally housed in the Marguery Hotel on Park Avenue, the gallery moved to a townhouse on East 67th Street in 1958, and in 1977 relocated to a handsome landmark townhouse at 21 East 70th Street. After occupying a space in the Crown Building from 2011-17, Hirschl & Adler moved to its new home in The Fuller Building at the world-renowned crossroads of Madison Avenue and 57th Street in February 2018, where the gallery continues to specialize in American and European paintings, watercolors, drawings, and sculpture from the eighteenth through the early twentieth centuries; American prints of all periods; and American decorative arts from 1810 to 1910. The seeds of our gallery, Horton Fine Art, were planted back in 1980 on the island of Bermuda. Walt Horton, my husband, had always had a very lively, creative side and, on moving to the island, we established an advertising agency. It was a very short journey for Walt to become the island’s favorite cartoonist with a cartoon strip in the Royal Gazette and marketing campaigns for the local police, education and environmental departments. Moving to Colorado in 1992 we intended on continuing with what was working so well when Walt fell in love with bronze sculpture. His background as a cartoonist, - story telling, capturing, animation and emotion and his innate ability to make people smile – took his artwork leaps and bounds beyond that of other artists with decades of experience. It wasn’t long before Walt became a beloved bronze artist. With representation in some of the country’s finest art galleries the signature piece “Repentance” and the classic “Rhodent Scholars” attracted international attention and are still sought after today.

In 2007 we opened our own gallery in Beaver Creek, Colorado, including other artists we are proud to represent. In that same year the unthinkable happened – Walt passed away. When you visit Horton Fine Art today you will be thrilled to see there are still some editions of Walt’s work available. You’ll also find that our son, Jesse, has become a sculptor of note in his own right. With all of his father’s talent and then some Jesse is carrying on the Horton legacy. A world traveler with Pacific Ocean expeditions studying whale migration and the Five Gyres, Great White Shark photography off the coast of South Africa and a year as pilot of a research submarine Jesse has much from his own life to bring to the table when creating sculpture. Horton sculpture may be our touchstone, but the gallery is full of works of other renowned artists we have chosen, many from Colorado, others from as far away as the New Zealand. Our goal is to have a collection that makes our visitors delight in returning again and again to see what’s new – and to take home a piece of art that they will treasure forever.

The John C. Doyle Art Gallery has been in business for over 30 years, as Mr. Doyle began painting with many other local Charleston painters in the 1970’s when there were no galleries in Charleston, and eventually began selling out of his home and studio on King Street in the 1980’s. Mr. Doyle passed away in November of 2014 after completing well over 2000 paintings in his prolific career. Rehs Galleries, Inc. is one of the world's leading art galleries specializing in important 19th and 20th century works of art; with a particular focus on artists that exhibited at the Paris Salon and London's Royal Academy between 1860 and 1920. Somerville Manning Gallery represents and exhibits 21st century paintings and sculptures by American artists Timothy Barr, Robert C. Jackson, Greg Mort, Robert C. Sorrel Sky Gallery opened its doors in 2002 at the corner of 9th and Main in Durango, Colorado. In 2011, Shanan was able to acquire a long-term home for her gallery in the historic Hogan Building. Built in the 1890s, the building was a boarding house, a saloon and a barber shop before being converted in 1939 to Hogan’s Department Store. For more than 70 years, the Hogan family served the Durango community. Growing up in the area, and working downtown in her early 20s, and then running her own gallery nearby, Shanan had long been in love with the building. She let the family know that she was interested in its future, and when they decided it was time to close the doors of Hogan’s, they passed on the building’s legacy to her. After extensive renovations, which revealed many old architectural features that were skillfully and meticulously restored, Sorrel Sky moved into its new headquarters.

Sorrel Sky Gallery is located in Santa Fe, NM and in Durango, CO. We offer a distinctive collection of contemporary and traditional western art.

Shanan Campbell Wells, owner of Sorrel Sky Gallery, spent the majority of her youth in her father’s studio, often attending art shows with him across the country. Before opening the gallery’s Durango, Colorado location in 2002, Shanan managed galleries, traveled extensively as an art scout for the Franklin Mint, and worked in product development and licensing for the Smithsonian. In 2014 Sorrel Sky Gallery opened a second location in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Founded in 1999 by the erudite and cultivated attorney DeeAn Gillespie, the Marshall Gallery rapidly became a respected destination on Scottsdale’s Marshall Way, an area renowned for superior contemporary art. On 1 October 2017, WG Galerie for contemporary portraiture and realism opened its doors in the beautiful historic city center of Dordrecht.

Every two months, WG Galerie provides the space for solo exhibitions for Dutch portrait artists and realists.

It was time, according to Wilma Geerts, owner of WG Galerie and also portrait painter herself. We have to put portraiture back on the Dutch map, just like in other countries. We have already conquered history, now the future!

Williamsburg, Virginia is a natural and inspiring home for all kinds of artists, whether they are steeped in history, architecture, the everyday lives of people, drawn to scenic landscapes or simply seeking a relaxing environment where creativity is encouraged.   I am hopeful that the Williamsburg Art Gallery will be a showcase for the beauty of this region as depicted by artists but also, that it will serve as a crossroads for art.   Like keeping an open mind to ideas, art which comes from elsewhere is enriching and should provoke curiosity and the desire to learn.   A good art gallery has the dual obligation of bringing to the public the art they want to see but also, to sometimes surprise them and pique their interest with the unusual, the unknown or the unexpected.
