Largo - With Expression

The St. Croix National Scenic Riverway forms much of the border between Minnesota and Wisconsin. There is an inherent tempo in the passing of winter on the St. Croix River. The unhurried pace of the melting ice echoes the dignity and tonal weight of the season. This time of year rewards those who approach it with introspection and solemnity. This painting is designed to unfold itself to the viewer at a slow pace, revealing shimmering violets and yellow-greens embedded in the grave tones.
