Lost Mother

This was painted following a trip to the wilderness sanctuary of Arkaroola, in outback Australia, with a team of scientists surveying wildlife - mammals, birds, bats, ants, etc. The landscape was so ancient and powerful and it seemed as though this particular rock formation was like old skin, gouged, dried and scarred by time.
