Since 1869, the Royal Arcade in Melbourne has acted as a hub between Melbourne's, Bourke St Mall, Little Collins Street and Elizabeth Street. But for me, it's been part of the excitement of visiting the city as I've grown up. I remember especially as a little girl, the thrill of knowing that we were having a trip to town. The ornate architecture seemed amazing to me. Of course, when I went to Europe when I was older, I realised that by European standards it wasn't particularly ornate at all. But back then, it seemed magical.
