Barche da Pesca Portofino

I continue to paint the moments that impressed me on a trip to Italy this May. My favorite subjects, of course, remain seascapes and boats. This is the second in a series on Portofino. Elbowed into the small harbor, each fishing boat is carefully moored and shares space with larger ones. Most swing in unison with the tide. One however, left hastily uncovered, seemed to find its own rest. The non-conforming vibrantly painted finish and juxtaposition present an entertaining moment.

This painting will be on tour  two years in the Americain Society of Marine Artists 19th National Exhibition.  First venue is the Albany Institute of History and Art, Albany, NY.  Second venue is Minnesota Marine Art Museum, Winona, MN.
