U.S. Marine Corps

This is the fourth of five paintings for the Veterans Educational Historic Monument, and was installed this past May. This painting depicts the stories of the men and women of the U.S. Marine Corps. This painting includes volcanic soil mixed into the depiction of the iconic "Raising the Flag on Iwo Jima," one of the seminal moments of World War II and the history of the Marine Corps, which adds a distinctly grainy and textured quality. The location is the committal hall at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery, where final rites are held.
