To be an artist skilled and filled with purpose, has always been my goal. In 2011 I discovered the Master of Fine Arts Painting Program at the New York Academy of Art, and set a goal from across the world, to one day be there. Not only has the door opened to NYAA, but I have also formed a clear vision for the work I desire to create.

Over the next two years I seek to deepen and enhance my technical training in contemporary art making and conceptual development in painting. This is to ensure my artistic contribution to culture and society has lasting value, and ties to my passion for cultural diversity and ecosystem conservation. I believe a recognition of beauty in the land and it’s inhabitants through the visual arts, can lead to a revived sense of their worth and preservation, just as my ancestors had. Creating wonder and conversation from this beauty, and challenging the cultural norms of today.

Intertwined in my art-making is my career goal of higher education teaching. Earning my MFA allows me the opportunity to champion a generation of artists who seek to say something new with their art, just as I do. Bringing the lessons and insights of the old masters into the contemporary world in order to propel it forward.

Receiving a financial scholarship will mark the difference from dreaming to achieving my goal of earning my MFA and launching successfully into a career full of contributions to our visual culture.
