I keep getting contacted by an art agent about going into the print market. I have always considered this a bad choice for fine artists, but I am wondering. The paintings he seems interested in are my older ones - still lifes and landscapes - which I seldom do anymore. I have been doing narrative figures mostly for awhile now - I would not consider those for prints.
So what are the drawbacks? I don't want to market these myself...do I need a representative - why not just contact the publishers myself? Would this hurt my standing for say - galleries with my originals? Are you taken less seriously by collectors? Does anyone know the type of contracts they do? Percentages, etc? Besides a possible income - are there any other positives to this?
