Far and Away: Drawings from the Clement C. Moore Collection
Published on June 26, 2024
The drawings assembled by Clement C. Moore constitute one of the preeminent collections of Dutch drawings in private hands. The collection also includes works by Flemish, French, Italian, British, and American artists, spanning the sixteenth to the twentieth century. The works have long been intended to join the Morgan’s collection, and this exhibition, timed to coincide with the Morgan’s centennial celebration in 2024, makes formal the promised gift. The exhibition will demonstrate the breadth of the Moore Collection through a selection of around seventy-five works, grouped thematically to highlight the principal themes of Dutch art, the various functions and techniques of Dutch drawings, and the connections between the Dutch and other European artistic traditions. Works by Hendrick Goltzius, Jacob de Gheyn, Jan Brueghel, Peter Paul Rubens, Rembrandt, Peter Lely, Claude Lorrain, Thomas Gainsborough, and John Constable are among those featured in the selection.
The exhibition runs from June 28 - September 22, 2024 at the Morgan Library. 225 Madison Ave, New York, NY 10016.

Copper Plate Etching Workshop with FAA Founder Daniel Graves
Published on June 20, 2024
Masters of Line is a unique opportunity to learn the theory and practice of copper plate etching under the guidance of FAA Founder, Daniel Graves. With over 50 years of experience in the medium, Graves provides invaluable insight into this intricate art form. The course is studio-based with regular demonstrations and intensive hands-on work and it takes place in The Florence Academy of Art’s renovated etching studios - newly equipped with five state of the art printing presses!
While ideal for beginners, this workshop offers substantial value to those with prior etching experience, covering both fundamental techniques and advanced processes involved in creating high quality works.
Students are introduced to all aspects of line etching, learning to prepare the ground on copper plates, and the processes of biting, proof-printing, and plate correction. They finish the program with at least three completed plates and the technical skill to create more in the future.
The workshop will take place from September 9 - October 4 at The Florence Academy of Art, Via Aretina 293, Florence, Italy.

Detroit Realists of Art – Open House and Art Show
Published on June 19, 2024
Detroit Realists of Art has been hard at work in the studio for the last year. Students have been tackling drawings with sharp charcoal and a determination to get better, while the instructors have been building their bodies of work.
DRA is proud to present their second open studio and show. Both student and teacher work will be available for sale. Unlike galleries that take a large cut from the sales, all profits from student works will go directly to the student, and all works sold by instructors will benefit the DRA.
The open house and art show takes place on June 29, 2024 from 5 pm – 9 pm at DRA Atelier, 9592 Sioux, Redford, MI 48239.
