Lucy and Catherine Madox Brown are usually referred to as the daughters of the British painter Ford Madox Brown, but both were talented, professional artists in their own right. This exhibition explores the life, art and feminist legacies of these two significant artists.

The Southern Atelier is proud to present their apprenticeship program under the direction of ARC Associate Living Master Charles Miano, designed as a 4-level program with a completely unique 2-fold course of study. In addition to traditional long term projects such as casts, master copies, portraits and figurative works, the apprenticeship curriculum highlights rigorous short, intermediate and long practice from the live model. This balanced approach develops hand eye coordination quickly and improves an artist's ability to see and capture life and movement dramatically while at the same time learning to finish works of art to the highest standards of excellence.

Spaces are limited to provide one-on-one instruction and detailed attention, so students can thrive in their study no matter their entry level. Throughout the apprenticeship program, students may also attend workshops at Southern Atelier given by visiting master artists from around the world.

The Miano Apprenticeship is broken into trimester terms, for $3800 per term. Apprentices may benefit from having their own individual work area, teaching opportunities, public gallery representation, and a key to the Atelier studio, located in luminous Sarasota, Florida.

ARC Associate Living Master Narelle Zeller and her sister Colleen Stapleton shine their mirrors back at us with an exhibition showcasing their extraordinary talent with the brush in their own differing approaches to portraiture, the human figure and the object.

Depicting a rich cross section of 17th-century Dutch and Flemish life and culture, this exhibition brings together 27 paintings acquired through the generosity of the Lee and Juliet Folger Fund over the past two decades, supplemented by one painting from Lee and Juliet Folger’s personal collection. Assembled with care and passion, the collection includes landscapes by Jacob van Ruisdael and Salomon van Ruysdael, winter scenes by Jan van Goyen and Adam van Breen, genre paintings by Dirck Hals and Caspar Netscher, seascapes by Reinier Nooms and Simon de Vlieger, still lifes by Clara Peeters and Frans Snyders, and portraits by Thomas de Keyser and Jan Miense Molenaer. Seen together, this collection offers a unique opportunity to enjoy some of the finest productions of Dutch and Flemish artists of the 17th century.

The Academy of Fine Art Germany has recently received accreditation from the Ministry of Science and Art in Hessen.

They are now the first German institution offering a state-recognized education in classical, academic drawing, painting and sculpting. Graduates are allowed to use the title "state-recognized Painter" (staatlich geprüfte/r Kunstmaler/in) and "state-recognized Sculptor" (staatlich geprüfte/r Skulpteur/in).

Having a recognized title, students and graduates receive many benefits. The Visa process for international students will be much easier, as well as getting student discounts for entrances, public transportation and more. As recognized students they can apply for student loans, credits and scholarships.

In the first ever show to focus solely on Hals’s portraits of men posing on their own, The Laughing Cavalier will be showcased alongside other great male portraits by Hals in order to explore his highly innovative approach to male portraiture in particular, from the beginning of his career in the 1610s until the end of his life in 1666.

This exhibition will bring together a careful selection of the artist’s best male portraits from Europe and North America. In doing so, the show will aim to demonstrate how, through pose and virtuosic painterly technique, Hals completely revolutionised the male portrait into something entirely new and fresh, capturing and revealing his sitters’ characters like no one else before him. It will also showcase the evolution of Hals’s style, which is especially evident in his male portraits, from finely painted works to those demonstrating increasingly free and loose handling in his later years.

The exhibition is on display at The Wallace Collection, Manchester Square, London, W1U 3BN, UK from September 22, 2021 - January 30, 2022.

"Watershed", a solo exhibition of more than 50 original plein air and studio oil paintings by Mary Pettis, will showcase the beauty, relevance, and character of the St. Croix National Scenic Riverway and surrounding watershed.

25% of each sale will be donated to Wild Rivers Conservancy in support of their mission.

In the second half of the eighteenth century, the blossoming of a new printmaking technique—aquatint—vastly expanded possibilities for creating and disseminating images across Europe. Aquatints offered the unprecedented means to mimic the gestural brushstrokes and subtle tonal variations of ink, wash (diluted ink), and watercolor drawings. Produced in multiples, aquatints were avidly collected by enthusiasts as a form of visual instruction, an intellectual pursuit, and a social pastime. Typically printed in an array of brown and black inks, these compositions engaged viewers with scenes of faraway places, scientific phenomena, and imaginary visions. The atmosphere of excitement and intrigue around the innovation of aquatint aligned with the Enlightenment period’s preoccupation with discoveries and advances in knowledge. Most of these selected works from the National Gallery’s exceptional collection of early aquatints have never been on public view.

Animalia is Beautiful Bizarre Magazine’s twelfth international curated exhibition, and third at Haven Gallery in Long Island, New York. It brings together over 80 of the world’s best two and three dimensional artists, each exploring the ‘Animalia’ theme through their own unique styles, genres and mediums.

ARC Living Master Julio Reyes as well as several artists that were winners and finalists in past ARC Salons will be among the participating artists in the exhibition.

The opening reception at Haven Gallery will be open to the public. Please note, mask wearing is mandatory and all social distancing procedures will be in place to protect visitors and gallery staff.

The exhibition takes place at the Haven Gallery, 90 Main St, Northport, NY 11768 and runs from October 23 - November 28, 2021.

European society and culture changed dramatically in the mid-18th century. This was an age of opportunity and change, enlightenment and innovation, but also materialism, exploitation and injustice. In an affluent, cosmopolitan Europe, the seeds of modern empire, revolution and global war were being sown.

In Britain, William Hogarth became famous for paintings and prints that captured the new modern experience with energy, wit and humanity. But he was not alone. Across Europe, artists were creating vivid images of contemporary life and social commentary. The rich and the poor, the immoral and self-deluding, the selfish and the selfless, were made characters in pictorial stories that caught people’s imaginations and took art in novel directions.

For the first time, this exhibition will bring together Hogarth’s greatest works with those of his peers across the continent – including Francesco Guardi in Venice, Chardin in Paris and Cornelis Troost in Amsterdam – to suggest the cross currents, parallels and sympathies that crossed borders.

Now in it's sixth year, VRFA Gallery's Americans in Paris presents Art Nouveau, with 75 new dazzling works created for VRFA gallery boasting brilliant gold, petina green, textures, figures and scenes of Paris by top international artists in the genres of realism and impressionism. The NOVEMBER 2021 exhibition and events were conceptualized and curated by artist and art dealer Vanessa Rothe, with a special French theme serving as inspiration for the new works created specifically for the show.

Many ARC related artists will be participating in the event.
