Katsu Nakajima Solo Exhibition - Draw A Boundary

ARC Living Master Katsu Nakajima is holding a solo exhibition for the first time in 5 years.
This solo exhibition was originally scheduled to be held in July last year. It is composed mainly of works from the past 5 years including drawings, figure and landscape paintings.
The exhibition takes place at the Bunshun Gallery, 3-23 bunngeisynjyu nisikann F1, Kioicho, Chiyodaku, Japan from April 4 - 11, 2021.

Night of Artists

To mark the 20th anniversary of the event that sparked the museum’s creation, the Briscoe Western Art Museum is expanding its signature exhibition and sale with a first: a hybrid event that includes online and in-person celebrations. One of the premier Western Art events in the world, Night of Artists includes the viewing and sale of nearly 300 new works of painting, sculpture and mixed media by over 75 of today’s leading contemporary Western artists.
ARC Associate Living Masters Mary Ross Buccholz and Xiang Zhang are among the participating artists.
"Night of Artists" runs from March 28 - May 9, 2021 at the Briscoe Western Art Museum, 210 W Market St., San Antonio, TX 78205.

Extra Ordinary: Magic, Mystery and Imagination in American Realism

“Extra Ordinary” surveys a range of American artists who embraced realism, representation and classical artistic techniques in the face of the rising tide of abstraction at mid-century. Through sharp focus, suggestive ambiguity and an uncanny assemblage of ordinary things, their works not only show that the extraordinary is possible, but also conjure the strangeness and wonder of everyday life.

The Florence Academy of Art announces its new Master of Arts in Studio Art

Building Skill-based Techniques for the K-12 Classroom
The Master of Arts in Studio Art is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD). The MA program consists of 30 credits of full-time study, entirely studio-based and completed over 3 summer sessions. Each summer session is 6 weeks in duration. Students may choose to complete all 3 summer sessions in person, or attend up to 2 out of the 3 summer sessions remotely. For those who study remotely, the required in-person session may take place at St. Peter’s University in Jersey City, or at the academy’s campus in Florence, Italy.
The Florence Academy of Art is delighted to partner with Mandy Theis and School of Atelier Arts to offer this degree program. With its emphasis on classical methods, the course provides training in drawing and painting to art teachers seeking to use these skill-based techniques in their classrooms, and to anyone interested in learning how to make realistic artwork. Candidates are not expected to come into the program with high levels of technical skill. Instead, the program is designed to provide the knowledge and develop the skill set of candidates from a variety of backgrounds and levels of experience.

International Guild of Realism Spring Salon Online Exhibition

Designing Faces

In this workshop at ARC Approved MIFA, the artist Brett Harvey - @brett_f_harvey will explain how to design dynamic and expressive portraits using theories of structural anatomy. Over the course of the workshop, participants will work from life in water based clay on a multiple portraits. Artists will be challenged to merge abstract ideas about geometry with naturalistic ideas about anatomy. This is aimed not just toward sculptors, but anyone looking to strengthen their understanding of the human head and face.
The workshop costs $850 and materials are included (clay and armature)
Classes run 5 days - 6 hours each day from 4/12 - 4/16/21 at MIFA, 5900 NW 74th Ave, Miami, FL.

Rising Voices: The Bennett Prize for Women Figurative Realist Painters

Rising Voices invites visitors to experience figurative work through the eyes of women. Ultimately, this show highlights and recognizes the achievements of women painters that have been too long overlooked at a time when the craft of realist painting is being re-discovered.
The exhibition consists of 29 works by the ten finalists and winner of the Bennett Prize, the largest art prize offered solely to women painters at $50,000. The Bennett Prize, which offers both the cash prize and a traveling solo exhibition to the winner, aims to promote women realist painters by showcasing their work and introducing talented women artists to a new generation of admirers and collectors.

Bryn Du Art Show

The 17th Annual Bryn Du Art Show will be held from March 5 - 27, 2021 at the Bryn Du Mansion, 537 Jones Rd NE, Granville, OH 43023. ARC Associate Living Master Debra Keirce will be among the exhibiting artists.
This event is free, open to the public and family-friendly. Masks and social distancing are required and only 10 visitors will be allowed into the show at a time.
Appointments are not necessary unless you are in need of a private visit. At-risk individuals are welcome to contact the office for private off-hours viewing appointments.

New ARC Approved Atelier

ARC is pleased to welcome Vosler Young Artists' Studio as our newest approved atelier!
Vosler Young Artists' Studio teaches students to see and understand, contour, shape, form, line, values, and edges followed by gesture and rhythms. They teach observational drawing and the classical language that accompanies this discipline.
Throughout the Covid-19, students have the option to come into the studio or go online anytime the need arises. Currently, online courses are offered for teens ages 13 to 18. All 2021 summer workshops will be in the large studios to ensure social distancing.

Women Painting Women III

Women Painting Women is a major exhibition of portraiture in traditional oil painting. It presents award winning realist painters from Victoria, South Australia and New South Wales. Taking its inspiration from the Women Painting Women exhibitions in the United States, this is the third Australian instalment of the Women Painting Women phenomenon which celebrates traditional realist painting and the talent of female artists.

Caravaggio's Technique Workshop at MIFA Miami

Caravaggio is one of the great painters in history, who took tenebrism and chiaroscuro to the next level. In this workshop you will learn the secrets and process of the Master by doing a copy of one of his paintings and practice:
- How Tenebrism really works
- Chiaroscuro
- Atmosphere
- Edges
- Glazings
This workshop is taught by the artist Milixa Moron - @milixamoron, trained in Florence at the Angel Academy of Art. Her works have been in the ARC Salon, the Figurativas Biennial in Barcelona, Spain and in many other shows and venues as well.
She will guide you step by step, from the first stages until the end. Canvas, oil and medium are included in the fee. Students will only bring their brushes, palette and palette knife.

ARC Associate Living Master Anastasiya Chybireva Fender is hosting a free three hour virtual charcoal drawing demonstration with Q and A on March 16, 2021 from 6-9 PM.
She will demonstrate drawing a portrait in charcoal while talking through the steps. She will answer questions about technique, her own style, and more.

Figurativas 2021

The Art & Artists Foundation is accepting entries to the 11th Figurativas Painting and Sculpture Competition, endowed with a First Painting Prize of up to €36,000, a Sculpture Acquisition Fund of €40,000, and a fund to be determined for the acquisition of works.
The award ceremony will be held in Barcelona next October 8th of 2021 at the MEAM along with the opening of the 15th ARC Salon of Art Renewal Center.
