13th ARC Salon Sponsor
August 30, 2017
Thank you to the Atelier Programs at Gage Academy of Art: the Magrath Sculpture Atelier and the Aristides Atelier for sponsoring the Sculpture Category in the 13th International ARC Salon Competition. We are accepting entries now through November 15th, 2017. To enter or view the prospectus, please visit our entry pages. Sponsored by Atelier Programs at Gage Academy of Art: the Magrath Sculpture Atelier and the Aristides Atelier The Magrath Sculpture Atelier at Gage Academy of Art is a multi-year, part-time Atelier designed to confer the core disciplines needed to become a practicing figurative sculptor at a high level of excellence. Led by celebrated sculptor, Michael Magrath, students learn to become adept in both traditional approaches as well as contemporary concerns in a variety of media. Designed to be undertaken over three years, but may be taken part-time over several years, the long term goal of the Magrath Sculpture Atelier at Gage is to confer upon the student who completes the program a well-recognized certificate of mastery in fine art figure sculpture, and the skills and confidence needed to make sculpture at the highest level. Atelier Programs at Gage Academy of Art: The Aristides Atelier, run by world renowned artist and author Juliette Aristides and the Magrath Sculpture Atelier feature an opportunity to work and study in a stimulating, communal environment under the guidance of a master teaching artist. An intensive studio program for the serious artist-in-training, Ateliers offer a contemporary variation on the traditional teaching model of the 19th-century European academies, where dedicated art students apprenticed with a master artist. In the last two years Gage has greatly expanded its Atelier program from Classical Painting & Drawing, Contemporary Painting & Drawing and Still Life Painting to now include Figurative Sculpture, Contemporary Collage, Painting, & Drawing, and our new Core Drawing Intensive, each as vibrant and individual as the primary teaching artist. Gage Ateliers run mid-September through mid-June, and are designed as multi-year or tailored to meet the needs of the individual student. |

Alma Tadema Exhibition

Born in the north of the Netherlands, the exhibition traces his early training and move to London in 1870 where he established a hugely successful career at the heart of the artistic establishment. His work fixed ideas in the popular imagination of what life in the ancient past might have looked like – ideas and images that were taken to the stage, film and that remain with us today. The exhibition includes important works by Tadema himself, his wife Laura and daughter Anna with loans coming from public and private collections internationally. | |
