The California Art Club, an ARC Allied Organization™ , is holding it's 106th Annual Gold Medal Exhibition. This year's Gold Medal Exhibition spotlights nearly 200 representational works of art from renowned contemporary-traditional fine artists, who have been active in expanding the interest in the plein air and classical arts heritage associated with the organization's beginnings in 1909. | |
During the exhibition, the California Art Club will present events and educational programs that enable art enthusiasts to learn more about classical art forms. New ARC Approved Atelier™

The Rob Gutteridge School of Classical Realism is a new school, created by Rob Gutteridge in 2016 in Adelaide, the capital city of the state of South Australia, Australia. It provides atelier training in realist art with a focus on painting and drawing the human figure. Rob Gutteridge has been an artist and teacher for more than 40 years. His school developed out of the growing need expressed by local aspiring realist artists and students, for traditional skill based classical training in painting and drawing. | |

Mandy Hallenius, DVI President in Epoch Times

Mandy Hallenius, an artist and art teacher, says children can master the skills needed to draw or paint whatever they can imagine. To help children gain these skills, as well as open up many avenues for cognitive development, the classic method of training visual artists should be salvaged from the past and incorporated into the curriculum today. The Academy of Realist Art, Boston, an ARC Approved™ atelier, launched its fifth annual scholarship competition for promising artists with a love for academic style painting and drawing. The scholarship to be awarded is for one year's free tuition for the school year, September 2017-June 2018. The competition is open to any student not currently enrolled at ARA Boston. This is a unique opportunity to jump start your classical training in a fun and supportive environment. | |

New ARC Living Master™

Greg Hildebrandt and his identical twin brother, Tim, were born in Detroit, Michigan in 1939. Both boys were avid artists from a young age and carried their artistic passion with them throughout their childhoods. In 1975, Greg and Tim illustrated the first of a series of Lord of the Rings calendars for Ballantine Books. This series launched them into international fame with over a million calendars sold, and the name The Brothers Hildebrandt® was born! In 1977, Lucas Films hired the Brothers Hildebrandt to create the movie poster for first Star Wars film, Star Wars: A New Hope. Velázquez Portraits: Truth in Painting

The Metropolitan Museum of Art, located on 1000 Fifth Avenue, New York, NY 10028 is holding an exhibition of Velazquez portraits from now until March 12, 2017. Seven exceptional portraits by Velázquez, including The Met's iconic Juan de Pareja, are on view in this focused exhibition, which shows how the artist captured the variety of human experience. Two paintings from the Hispanic Society of America Portrait of a Young Girl and Cardinal Camillo Astalli-Pamphili were recently cleaned and restored at The Met and are also displayed.
