This article focuses on three French artists who could not be left out of the first half of the series focusing on French 19th century painting, Jehan Georges Vibert (1840–1902), Gustave Doré (1832–1883), and James Jacques Joseph Tissot (1836-1902). "Apart from the artists who were given varying degrees of administrative power in the French Academies, there were many artists who dedicated their time solely to painting and became famous for their work without becoming involved in leadership roles. These are three such artists." To read the full article, click here. | A Fete Day at Brighton by James Jacques Joseph tissot |
