Bouguereau Book Grant Thanks

September 27, 2011

booksleeves I am a third year student at Georgetown Atelier in Seattle, WA. Our instructor, Tenaya Sims, brought in the beautiful addition of the Bouguereau Catalog Raisonne that you offered our school. As a student it is not in my means at this time to purchase such a definitive work of one the finest French painters. I have admired his work at Orsay and our local musem, the Frye. However to have all his works available to study, page after page, is a sheer delight.
Thank you for your generous gift to our atelier library. I am so very appreciative of the dedication, long hours and effort it took to bring this book to print.

Sincerely,
Courtney Estevenin

Praise for Good Art Speech

September 16, 2011

"I just read parts of your 2001 lecture 'Good Art, Bad Art: Pulling Back the Curtain'. I was impressed... The simple distinction of art about art, and art about life, is clear and concise. Well done."

-Adam Reeder

Thank You For Your Wonderful Website

September 6, 2011

"Thank you for your wonderful website. I enjoyed reading the “Philosophy” section of your website immensely, and was truly educated by what I found there.

I have always been awestruck and moved by the works of Leighton, Waterhouse and Alma Tadema. Although I am not an artist and rarely spend the time or money to enjoy art, I feel as though a sham has been perpetrated on the public regarding Modernist work. I jokingly hold the belief that one day, hundreds of years from now, it will be discovered that Pollock, Warhol and the like had perpetrated a great hoax on the art world."

Letter of Appreciation

September 1, 2011

"I wanted to give a quick thank you to the work you are doing. Your website made my day.

Although, I'm not an artist, I have always been instictively repulsed by modern 'art'. I think this biased me against Art in general and kept me from seeking out and truly understanding the craft and skill required for producing true Art.

Viewing the paintings on your site, I felt like somone had opened a door to the past (and, I hope, the future) that had been right in front of me all along. I felt truly inspired and lifted after seeing them."

- Jared
