Brought to Light: European Paintings from Lyman Allyn Art Museum

Published on July 29, 2019

This exhibition showcases the Lyman Allyn’s collection of European paintings, highlighting a selection of portraits, history paintings, religious scenes, landscapes, still-lifes, and genre scenes from the early Renaissance through the 19th century. Although European paintings have been part of the collection since the museum’s founding in 1932, the galleries currently emphasize American art, with European paintings infrequently on view.

Brought to Light offers the opportunity to reexamine the museum’s European paintings and share their rich stories with the public.

The exhibition runs from July 12, 2019 – September 20, 2020 at the Lyman Allyn Art Museum, 625 Williams Street, New London, CT 06320.
