Teaching Studios of Art December Workshops
November 18, 2011
The Baroque Portrait with Adam Miller at TSA's Oyster Bay studio December 15th - 17th, 2011
This unique workshop is designed to help artists of any level of skill and experience draw and paint the portrait in the grand manner of Gainsborough, Reynolds and Van Dyck. The Baroque Portrait consists of 3 days of working from the live model. The goal is to take advantage of a layered approach to painting, the ways a colored under-painting affects the final painting, and also help provide a focus on using limited colors towards building an artistic harmony of warms, cools and grays. The Living Portrait with Maria Kreyn at TSA's Brooklyn studio December 17th - 18th, 2011
The Living Portrait workshop consists of two days of drawing from the live model and is designed for all skill levels. This workshop will focus on creating both the likeness of the model and also emotional expression, bringing the portrait to life using the graphite medium. Emphasis will be placed on developing expression, line, edges, atmosphere, and internal gesture. Students will learn a process of drawing that focuses on quickly laying down a large amount of information, and then honing and focusing it to a high finish of detail and clarity.
