Published on September 7, 2023
Emilio Longo, Founder and Director of Skill-Based Art: A Learning Resource for Art Students & Artist-Teachers (SBA) has recently published a video which documents father of the contemporary atelier movement, Richard Lack, receiving the first Founder’s Award from the American Society of Portrait Artists (ASOPA).
The event took place in Mr. Lack’s Minnesota home and studio during 1990.
The video documents several of Mr. Lack’s paintings while former student of Lack’s, Stephen Gjertson, provides facts about Lack’s life and work. At the end of the video, Mr. Gjertson can be seen handing the ASOPA award to Mr. Lack.
