Cultivating The Dutch Tradition In The 21st Century: Jane Jones' Hyperrealist Floral Paintings
Published on February 17, 2022
ARC Associate Living Master Jane Jones works within the context of the seventeenth century Dutch school of painting, inspired by artists such as Maria van Oosterwyck (1630 – 1693), Maria Sibylla Merian (1647 – 1717), and Rachel Ruysch (1664-1750). Her stunning photo-realist paintings are created with precise observation, showing her deep respect for living systems and ecology. Her still life paintings highlight what Jones calls the ‘everyday triumphs of nature’ and the ‘power, beauty, and fragility of life,’ none of which should ever be taken for granted.
The exhibition runs from January 20 - May 14, 2022 at the Pearl Fincher Museum of Fine Arts, 6815 Cypresswood Dr., Spring, TX 77379.
