One Year Portraiture Program at the Florence Classical Arts Academy

Winter Enrollment Intensive Program - January 31, 2022
Summer Intake Intensive - April 12, 2022 - September 30, 2022 (with a 2 week break in August)

This course is a long and intensive program on portraiture. Composition studies, sketching practice, museum practice and artistic anatomy are also included in the curriculum. These subjects support and enhance deep comprehension of the complexities of portraiture. Students can choose from two major directions: drawing portraiture or painting portraiture. The course is recommended for both beginners and advanced painters, as the professor assists students both individually and in the group.

Course objectives include:

- Learning about the compositional arrangement of the canvas
- Understanding proportions of the big and small forms of the head
- Deepening anatomical analysis and its application in the drawing and painting process
- Refining details of the face (nose, eyes, lips and etc.)
- Developing a broader coloristic and tonal vision and elaborate implementation of all aspects
- Revealing physiological complexion of the model's character

Schedule: Monday to Friday (3 hours per day)

*Winter Enrollment Intensive Program is a One-Year program that contains the same amount of academic hours offered for one year in a shorter time frame. There are three evening classes included additionally in the curriculum weekly during the period of February - May.

Schedule: Monday to Friday (3 hours per day) plus 6 hours of evening courses weekly.
