He obtained his undergraduate degree in Editorial and Information Design in 1983, graduating summa cum laude from the prestigious Ravensbourne College of Art in London. In 1984 he began freelancing as a designer and illustrator in New York City for clients such as Scholastic, Ogilvy \u0026amp; Mather, Grey Advertising and Young and Rubicam. He obtained representation in the Tri-state area as well as in California building a successful business serving clients in the corporate advertising and publishing worlds, including American Express, Citicorp, IBM, Mars, Pepsi, Pfizer, Reader\u0027s Digest and Warner to name but a few. In 1996 he began accepting commissions for the creation of trompe l\u0027oeil effects and mural painting whilst also completing numerous private and corporate portrait commissions. Currently Edward creates paintings on commission and for sale in galleries in Connecticut, New York and Massachusetts. In 2003 he began teaching undergraduate and graduate students Drawing, Figure Drawing, Painting, Illustration and Art History at Western Connecticut State University. He obtained his MFA in Figurative painting at the Academy of Art University, San Francisco in 2011. Edward paints and instructs in his studio in Litchfield county, inspired by a multitude of artists that include Alma-Tadema, Bouguereau, Collins, Greene, Pino, Lipking, Monet, Sargent and Schmidt.\u003Cbr /\u003E\u003Cbr /\u003EFocusing on the dramatic effects of natural and artificial light and the resultant shadow contrasts Edward seeks to create paintings that have mood as well as a sense of time and place.
