The American Society of Marine Artists is a 501c3 non-profit organization whose purpose is to recognize, encourage and promote marine art and maritime history.
The American Society of Marine Artists seek to encourage cooperation and the exchange of ideas between artists, historians, students, instructors, collectors and others with interests related to marine art and maritime history. The Society is dedicated to fulfilling an informational and educational role. The ASMA maintains a registry for artists, holds exhibitions and promotes the study and improvement of American marine art. Membership in the Society is open to all, but becoming a Society Artist, either as a Signature member or Fellow, is limited to the mediums of painting, drawing, sculpture, scrimshaw and hand-pulled prints. While the Society values all marine art, photography, collage, digital prints, ceramics, resins, polymers, cast stone products or cold cast bronzes are not allowed in our exhibitions. All work must be original and created by hand.
