Becoming a professional artist has been my dream since childhood. I've graduated from an art and design university in Shangdong, China, worked as a designer in an advertising company and been awarded many national and international prizes. In 1998, I moved to New York to pursue the dream deeply rooted in my soul. I studied oil painting at the Art Students League of New York and won the Phyllis H. Mason grant. I learned from "20th-century old master" David A. Leffel, Gregg Kreutz and Max Ginsburg, and I admire the traditional classical paintings of the old masters, though I am most inspired by Rembrandt and Sargent. Using chiaroscuro, painting not only with light and shadow but past and present. With my art, I hope to convey the truth and beauty of the world. "Beauty is truth, truth is beauty". I believe it is important to paint what I see, I know and experienced. I feel a personal and deep connection to this rich, peaceful, energetic, and beautiful world. In the future, I would like to be an artist that makes my mark on the world and inspires others.
