"The white rhinoceros is the second largest rhinoceros in the world. It is also the most intelligent of the Rhinoceros family. However, due to the financial interests people have in the rhinoceros, the white rhinos have been hunted down and are now included in the 'Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora Appendix'. Based on this, I created this drawing. White Rhino is made with pen and ink. This work makes full use of the thin pen features with an extremely delicate characterization of the white rhino's rough textured skin. I have used a backlighting effect to enhance the visual impact of this work, creating a shocking visual contrast between the lights and darks. Even at a close-range this draws the audience in, making the visual experience more immersive." – Baohairen Ren
