Susan Wakeen was born in Worcester Massachusetts and raised by 2 very creative parent who encouraged a career in art. She attended Central Connecticut Stae University majoring in math and psychology, and for many years taught Special Education in the greater Boston area.

Her Passion for art compelled her to take courses with the Boston School of Fine Art, The Scottsdale Artist School and well as many other workshops around the country. Susan worked as senior doll designer at Hasbro, Inc. and was founder of her own design and manufacturing operation, The Susan Wakeen Doll Company, Inc.

Fine Art Sculpture has been a natural extension for her career path and in recent years Susan has been honored to recieved the highest of awards and honors form Art Renewal Center, National Sculpture Society, Portrait Sosiety of America, Allied Artist, and Academic Artis Association.

For Susan, with each new sculpture, the challenges are unique to the suject, A sculpture needs to be more than a portrait. "I strive to obtain an overall feeling and design to be consistent with sensitivity of the time spent with the subject in hopes that at the same time my works will survive decades of observation.

Currently Susan continues her studies of fine art sculpture as well as teaches in her Connecticut studio and Brookgreen Gardens of South Carolina. Her work is exhibit edin major galleries and museums around the world.
