Nathan Bertling
b. 1974
Born and raised in Spartanburg, SC, Bertling attended Furman University in Greenville, SC. Graduating with honors in 1996, his interdisciplinary degree focused on visual art and communications.
From 2002-2008, Bertling studied under American master Benjamin F. Long, IV at The Fine Arts League of the Carolinas in Asheville, NC. Learning the methods and materials of the Old Master tradition, he taught portrait drawing for two years as a member of the faculty.
Currently, he works from his north-light home studio in Greenville, SC executing fine drawings and oil paintings from life.
