Maria C Jiménez is a contemporary representational artist. She creates drawings and paintings of her family, friends and students in everyday settings while revealing glimpses of their characteristics including nuances in body language and physiognomy. Her work includes narrative of her subjects emphasized by their clothing or objects. She was classically trained at various atelier schools including the New York Academy of Art under the tutelage of Ted Seth Jacobs, and later with Max Ginsberg and Steven Assael at the School of Visual Arts earning her BFA. Maria states “It’s important that I capture that human experience that connects us”. She also graduated with an MFA from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and currently uses color and composition to add emphasis to her work.
