My name is Sydney Alderman and I am a freshman at Western Washington University. I started drawing at a very young age and grew a great passion for the arts. When it came to high school I chose to audition for the Las Vegas Academy of the Arts and was accepted as a visual art major and later became a double major in photography. During my junior year, I became interested in Ophiocordyceps unilateralis, which is a specialized fungal parasite that infects, manipulates, and kills formicine ants. I used this idea in a lot of my artwork and I plan to double major in biology to learn more about mushrooms and bacteria so that I can grow it onto my work.
