Pauline Roche

Pauline Roche was born in London but grew up in Australia from the age of seven. In 1995 she moved to the United States. She lived for a number of years in Boston, and also in Tucson, Arizona, and has now settled near San Diego, California.

Pauline’s work has won a number of awards in juried exhibitions, including the Gold Medal of Honor at the Audubon Artists Annual exhibition, NY and others in exhibitions at the Catherine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club, the Salmagundi Club and the American Artists Professional League, NY. Her work has frequently been chosen as a Finalist in the Art Renewal Center's International ARC Salon competitions, and was awarded 'Best Social Commentary - Runner Up' in the 2014 ARC Salon. Her work had been chosen as a finalist in Southwest Art magazine’s Artistic Excellence Competition and won 2nd Prize in The Artist's Magazine 29th Annual Art Competition. Most recently she was awarded the Best Signature Award for Artistic Excellence at the 2017 Oil Painters of America National Exhibition, and her work was selected for inclusion in the 107th Annual California Art Club Gold Medal Exhibition, 2018.

She is listed in Who’s Who in America and Who’s Who of American Women. Feature articles on Pauline's work, have appeared in American Artist magazine (May 2007) The Artist’s Magazine (Nov, 2013, Cover) and in Southwest Art: ‘Enthralling Moments’, by Bonnie Gangelhoff (Feb 2014). Early art training for Pauline was in the ateliers of practicing artists in Melbourne, Australia, where she received extensive training in traditional oil painting, following the teachings of Max Meldrum. Her subsequent art education, in addition to attendance at various workshops, has included studies at the School of the Museum of Fine Art, Boston, and The Florence Academy of Art, Italy.

Pauline is a Signature Member of Oil Painters of America, an Artist Member of The California Art Club, and a member of the Portrait Society of America, American Women Artists, and the Laguna Plein Air Painters Association. She is also a member of the Australian Guild of Realist Artists and is a signatory member of the Victorian Artists’ Society (Australia’s oldest art society). Her work is included in the corporate collection of the Melbourne Museum, Australia, the corporate collection of Ventana Medical Systems Inc. Tucson and in many other collections in USA, Australia, and Europe.
