Patricia has been teaching, drawing and painting fine works of art since 1996, studying under artist Robert Liberace, a prolific sculptor and painter who was given the distinction of "Living Master" by the Art Renewal Center in 2013. In her ongoing study of classical methods and materials, she has developed a deep love for the centuries-old technique of painting in oil on copper, a Baroque-era method widely recognized for its technical difficulty and superior aesthetic qualities. Her contemporary interpretation often involves leaving part of the copper exposed, sometimes even etching back through the paint layers into the copper, allowing the copper to shine through—sometimes in the subject’s hair, sometimes in jewelry or other objects. Patricia’s work combines a thoughtful blend of past and present, employing the time-honored techniques and materials of the great masters, while adding her own contemporary flare, resulting in works of art that are aesthetically beautiful and unmistakably unique.
Patricia's paintings have appeared in American Art Collector magazine, Nov 2018 and The Artist Magazine, April 2019 and have won numerous awards. In 2009, 2010, 2014, 2016, and 2017 she has won National Recognition in the Portrait Society's "Members Only" Competition, twice for pastel portraits, twice for portraits on copper, and twice for oil paintings on linen. In 2014, she received a Certificate of Excellence in the Portrait Society’s International Portrait Competition for her painting on copper, titled “Lauren.” A member of Oil Painters of America, her painting “Blue River Dream”, oil on copper, was a Silver Medalist in the Eastern Regional Show 2018, and “Aglow”, oil on copper, was juried into the OPA National Show 2019. “Lauren” was awarded Best in Show in the International Guild of Realism 2019 Winter Online Salon. Two drawings and a painting were finalists in the ARC 2019 Competition, and she has twice been included in The Strokes of Genius, Best of Drawing Publication.
