Jordi Diaz Alama

Born in Granollers in 1986, Jordi Díaz Alamà studied Fine Art at the University of Barcelona. After graduating, he stayed with the painter Guillermo Muñoz Vera in Chinchón (Madrid) [Arauco Foundation Scholarship], with Antonio López [Fancisco Goya Chair Scholarship], and the Norwegian painter Odd Nerdrum. His admiration for painting led him to enter the prestigious The Florence Academy of Art (Florence, Italy), where he studied by paying tribute to the techniques of the great artists of the 19th century.

 

He was the winner of the Figurativas 2011 Contest, organised by the Arts and Artists Foundation in collaboration with the MEAM, as well as the LI Premio Internacional de Dibujo Ynglada-Guillot (the Ynglada-Guillot International Drawing Prize), organised by the Reial Acadèmia Catalana de Belles Arts de Sant Jordi.

 

In September 2013 he inaugurated his educational project, the Barcelona Academy of Art, where he teaches Drawing and Painting courses and also has his studio.

 

In 2014 he received the Medal of Honour in the 29th BMW painting competition, and in 2015 he was chosen as a finalist in the International ARC Salon competition, organised by the Art Renewal Center web portal. In September 2016 he received the first painting prize from the Fundació Vila Casas for his work “El Trono de Hamelín” (Hamelin’s Throne). He also received the Honorable Mention in the ARC Salon Competition, organised by the Art Renewal Center for “El Trono de Hamelín” (Hamelin’s Throne).

 

In November 2016 and after two years of work, Diaz Alamà finished his work “La Cruz del Jubileo” (The Jubilee Cross), a commission from the Diocese of Vic for the Esglèsia dels Dolors. The work was presented to the public on 12 November, 2016 in an event that took place in the Esglèsia dels Dolors, and which was attended by the Minister of Culture of the Generalitat de Catalunya, Mr. Santi Vila, and the Bishop of Vic, Romà Casanovas, who blessed the work.

 

 In 2017, Fundació Vila Casas exhibited its “#ClásicosDesollados” series which is currently presented by Galería Miquel Alzueta.

In 2018 Alama presents Red Studio Collection.

Today Alamà is currently working ilustriation Dante's Divine Comdedy. The exhibition will be present on 2021 in Museum MEAM.
