Linda Derksen

Netherlands

Tiel (The Netherlands) based Linda Derksen prefers to draw and paint the people around her, the plants and flowers in her garden and the beach in Noord Holland where she often stays. She works with different materials; pencil, charcoal, gouache, watercolor and oil paint in a realistic style. How light and shadow reveal unexpected colors and shapes are always the motivation to capture a moment.

The figures in Linda's work are modest, introverted and invite the viewer into the perception of the person portrayed: what is this person concerned with? The subjects are limited and, due to the special lighting, sometimes evoke a feeling of isolation and loneliness. The human figure, use of clear colors and contrasts characterize her paintings.
