(b.)1960 A Massachusetts native, my first introduction to more formal art education was at Boston’s MFA painting classes. After completing high school, I continued my studies (1979-81) at The School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. Dissatisfied, I continued with private studies with Joseph LC Santoro NA. AWS (1982-86). Still seeking to find the training associated with the masters from the past, I was directed to the Atelier of Paul Ingbretson. Ingbretson Studios is a direct connection to European and American masters of the 19th and early 20th century via RH Ives Gammell and "The Boston School". My training with Paul continued from 1990-1995, which was my dream come true. After completing my studies, I began my journey to being a professional artist and teacher. I believe in the importance of passing on the fundamentals of representational realism to others. My work is based on relational seeing and it’s "visual order" with rhythmic variety driving the design aesthetic. With the tools necessary to depict any subject honestly, be it a portrait/figure, still life/trompe l'oeil, landscape/interior etc. painting the visual impression allows me to carry the title "realist painter". The beauty and magic of “the look of nature” with atmosphere and color created by light will always be my first love.
