Riley Doyle is an American contemporary realist painter born in 1990 in Denver, Colorado. He was exposed to art very early on by his mother, an artist and art teacher. He spent most of his high school days either in the photography dark room, or the computer lab working with photoshop and illustrator, and later attended Metropolitan State University of Denver for printmaking for a BFA in printmaking. In 2013, Riley attended a figure drawing workshop which was a catalyst for his technical training in observation and traditional drawing and painting media. In 2014 he moved to Seattle to attend the Georgetown Atelier program. In the Summer of 2016 he attended the Hudson River Fellowship, which sparked the beginning of his plein air painting obsession. In 2017 he was awarded the Stobart Foundation grant to produce large scale, multifigurative landscape compositions. Today, his work is a marriage of academic training and traditions and quick, impressionistic mark making informed by his study in both realms. His paintings speak to his contemporary search for harmony between us and our environment. He has most recently been recognized by The Portrait Society of America, the Art Renewal Center and The Plein Air Salon. Riley is currently based in Seattle, WA. USA
