Roger Schmidt

Canada

I have been practicing fine art since 2009 and am mostly self taught.

In my youth I had a natural ability for drawing and painting.  I also was very much into guitar playing and music.  Practising music has stayed constant with me since that time, but for reasons still not clear to me, I set aside the fine art after I left high school. I am so glad to have rediscovered my passion for it at this time in my life.

I have focused mostly on drawing until recently.  Drawing is the foundation of painting, so these are the steps I decided to follow for myself. I love the narrative feeling of back and white and the painterly atrubutes that charcoal can provide.  That being said, I see mastering colour as my ultimate goal.
