Raquel Di Carvalho

Spain

Raquel di Carvalho, plastic artist, born in Brazil (1975), experienced her life as a painter at the age of 19 in Sao Paulo, where she has taken courses with painters from the region, then with the teacher Marciano Schmitz. A year later he moved to his city Novo Hamburgo to study Fine Arts, where he was trained in 2002. Monochrome works began in 1999 with the work "MENINO". The emergence of this line has occurred from the primary concern to discover how to unite image, idea, light and color. I am interested in the question of the impression of fluidity, levelness and at the same time an antagonistic relationship that the work creates over time and its elaboration methods. He also begins teaching painting classes in his studio. Ten years later he traveled to Bilbao (Spain) looking for new ways of learning and evolution. He lives two years in the Basque country moving to Santiago de Compostela, where in his study of painting classes and develops his work as an artist.
Di Carvalho arrived in Spain 14 years ago, settling in Barcelona in 2016. Painting is his passion. Both his technique and his pictorial motifs have evolved in the more than 25 years of his professional career, where he hosts awards and exhibitions in Brazil, Germany, Italy and Spain. She has been a teacher for 23 years, after graduating in Fine Arts in her country.
As for the content of his work, Di Carvalho cannot forget his roots, where he portrays customs, landscapes, people represented in a nostalgic way. Another theme of his work was "the ways of the road". Landscapes of the French Way in your experience as a pilgrim. And finally, the director of all, the series of pictures that expresses the vision of life through the eyes of a child. It's called "AMEN-MY WORLD IS ANOTHER". That same vision that permeates feelings of total surrender, absent of prejudice, criticism, cynicism and cruelty, that we acquire in the course of our existence. This series can be said to be a reflection of human quality.
Currently he works with the futuristic theme. An example is the work NON-LINEAR EXISTENCE
Work emerged through the reflection of time the space that we are trapped. Everything passes, moves, ages, ends, is ephemeral, except its own existence. His stolen conscience does not allow him free will and he sees a loop. Those glances between innocent and malefic, vulnerability in an unknown world represented in frames of abandonment and survival.
The outcome of the ruins that once had a factory, will now only serve as a prison for time. Nature's oxygen no longer exists, animals disappeared, the world has been transformed due to existential lack of control and the massive destruction of our own survival, the sea, of the planet.
The proposal is in the symbolic iconographic representation of the character trapped in his time. He sees himself in different places, being a spectator of his own non-linear existence.
