Marilyn Wear

United States

Marilyn was born in San Francisco and attended California’s San Jose State University, receiving a B.A. in Graphic Design in 1974. After working as an advertising Artist for several years, She changed careers in 2003 to pursue her dream of becoming a full time professional fine artist, painting her favorite subjects; wildlife and dramatic landscapes.

Although she also paints with oil and acrylic, her favorite medium is transparent watercolor, where she uses a technique of layering many glazes of watercolor to attain richness and depth while retaining a glowing vibrancy.

Her paintings have been exhibited at museums and galleries both nationally and internationally, including Birds in Art at the Leigh Yawkey museum in Wassau, Wisconsin, The Nature in Art museum in Twigworth, Gloucester England, and the California Art Club’s Gold Medal exhibits in Pasadena and Los Angeles. She holds signature membership in The National Watercolor Society, Watercolor West, The Transparent Watercolor Society of America, The California Watercolor Association, The American Society of Marine Artist and is a juried artist member of the Society of Animal Artists. Her style is realistic with an emphasis on capturing the light, color and mood of her chosen subject.
