José A. López Picardo is a Spanish painter,professor and a member of ASPAS (Spanish Pastel Painters Association).

He never wanted to exhibit in public because he considered his black and white drawings too much intimate. But then, much later, he decided to go ahead with it. From that date, he has exhibited at galleries and cultural halls mainly in Spain and in other countries like USA,Polland or Ireland.

His first solo exhibition took place at IriArte Gallery in Santa Cruz de Tenerife and at the International Painting Pastel Biennial in Manacor.

Later on his work is published twice in the awarded magazine The Horror Zine based in Sacramento and in Beautiful and Bizarre magazine (on line tagged in occasion of the exhibition at Gallery X,Dublin called The Gallery X anniversary show https://beautifulbizarre.net/2015/11/28/the-galleryx-anniversary-show/)

Then he exhibited at III International Pastel Bienial in Oviedo. “The cupid of the greedy” is selected as finalist in 2016 .He also exhibited at Léucade Gallery Art in Murcia (Spain) and again at Gallery X en Dublin (Ireland).He´s awarded with 2nd Award at XX Premio Nacional de Pintura Enrique Lite of La Laguna University and 2nd Award at Premio Nacional de Pintura Dimas Coello in Candelaria in the same year.

In the next two years he got the 1st Award Premio Nacional de Pintura y Escultura Óscar Domínguez en Tacoronte and Pan Pastel Award at the IV International Pastel Painting Bienal in Oviedo. In that period he is selected for the VII International Pastel Bienial in Polland at Sztuki Współczesnej BWA Sokół Gallery and he exhibited in the Hall of Culture in Candelaria. (Spain)

In 2019 he´s selected as a finalist in the ART RENEWAL CENTER,exhibited at Galería SOKOL in Polland and at AEON Gallery in Richmond (USA) and in the same year he´s jury at V International Pastel Painting in Oviedo.

In Lopez Picardo´s words:

My artwork is symbolic,humanistic and it´s connected with human´s hopes and fears.I think is a romantic artwork and sometimes spiritual and/or theological in somehow”
