Suzy F. Smith is a Kentucky native.  She was reared on Mereworth Farm outside Lexington. Favorite artists include Maud Earl, Rosa Bonheur, Edwin Landseer, Remington and John Singer Sargent.  She married a cattleman who hunted game birds with his sporting dogs. Her work and studies reflect her background and daily life. The majority of her drawings and paintings are of animals particularly dogs, hounds, cattle, horses, their jockeys and riders and portraits.
