Katie Koenig is an acrylic artist who has been drawing and painting her whole life, deciding at just five years old that she wanted to be an artist when grew up. She tried to make what she thought was a stable career out of her love for art by pursuing an education in Illustration. After earning a BFA from Savannah College of Art and Design, however, Katie realized that painting was her true passion. She settled in the suburbs of Pittsburgh where she was born and raised and began to paint images of the places and things that have impacted her the most. She focuses on dramatic, yet simple still life paintings of foods and objects that she has a great fondness for or nostalgic connection to, finding the beauty in simple pleasures. In some of her most recent works, Katie has begun to experiment with trompe l'oeil and imaginative realism, hoping to expand her skills and subjects to be able to inspire others.
