Joke Frima (The Hague, 1952) began her studies at the Academy of Fine Arts at a very young age (1969 - 1974). Her studies left her with a feeling of dissatisfaction, when by chance she discovered Studio Simi in Florence in 1976, she immediately felt that she had found her way and made breathtaking progress in no time. Joke spent eight years with Signorina Nerina Simi.
In her paintings, Joke Frima shows a nature that has not yet been plucked and stolen by human hands. Arid leaves or wilted flowers are rendered as precisely as green, fresh sprouts and buds. Joke knows how to evoke rhythm, peace, balance, harmony and pays special attention to the ordinary with a treatment of the subject that of everyday, very precise.
Upon her return to the Netherlands, her homeland, in 1985, Joke began a career as an independent artist. Joke's work was then exhibited in numerous galleries in the Netherlands, as well as in galleries around the world.
Joke Frima now lives in France, in the Nièvre, since 1999.
In 2019, Joke Frima decided to create an association called AdA (skill-based art) to promote artistic training with the objective of acquiring the basics of skills for drawing and painting.
