Barbara Bramham

15th Annual ARC Salon (2020-2021)

Barbara Bramham

United States

Barbara Bramham is a California artist with a deep passion for realistic art. Working exclusively in oils, her work incorporates meticulous detail and bright colors.

Subject matter for her still life paintings includes antiques, and glass, which has become a specialty. She frequents local shops to collect old boxes, bowls, glassware, and other antiques to paint.

“The more gnarly and old the antiques are, the more fun they are to paint. Antiques have a lot of character and history. I am working on a still-life painting now that has a variety of objects, including a Chinese rice measure from the 1800s, and a kitchen towel from Sweden from early 1900’s.”

She is also working on a series of wildlife paintings, often visiting local parks, animal preserves, zoos, and museums for subject matter. Being an avid hiker helps to stay inspired with the natural world. Barbara grew up north of San Francisco, and exploring the open spaces of the North Bay instilled an appreciation for the outdoors and its beauty. She has plans for several landscape paintings in the future.

Barbara studied Fine Art at College of Marin and graduated with a Bachelors of Art in Illustration from Academy of Art University in San Francisco. After graduation Barbara worked as an illustrator on a wide variety of projects, including artwork for Presidio Press, Sonoma County Hot Air Balloon Classic, Levi Strauss, Better Business Bureau of San Francisco, and more.

Taking a break from illustration, Barbara devoted her time to raising her son and supporting her family while gradually developing her painting skill and technique. With family obligations giving way to more painting time she has built a solid inventory of work.

She recently studied with realist painter Charles Becker for a short time to further her growth as a painter. Her work has been shown at The Riverfront Gallery in Petaluma. Barbara was recently awarded ‘Honorable Mention’ for the Artist Magazine 2020 Annual Art Competition.
