Yannick Bouchard

Canada

Yannick is a Canadian artist, born in 1982. He obtained a baccalaureate degree in visual arts in 2006, at Laval University, in Quebec City. In 2019, he received a diploma in oil painting and pastel at the Academy of Fine Arts of Quebec.

Yannick has always been passionate about drawing, and he knew from a young age that he wanted to be an artist. It's only in college, around the age of 19, that he started to work with oil paint. His early work was definitely influenced by surrealism and fantasy art. While those influences still exist in his paintings, they appear in a more nuanced way. The one constant in his work is the human form, women being his subject of predilection. They are for him an endless source of inspiration, as much for the appreciation of their beauty, as a way to depict emotions and the portrayal of the human nature.
