Katherine is a Signature Member of the Portrait Society of America, American Women Artists and Oil Painters of America. Katherine exhibits in national competitions as well as the galleries that represent her.
A native of Memphis, TN, her parents encouraged her artistic talent and enrolled her in the Memphis Art Academy, and later in private instruction. She received her first portrait commission at age 12 and has been painting figurative work ever since. After majoring in studio fine arts in college, Katherine decided to pursue art as a profession. She attended the National Academy Museum School of Fine Art on a full merit scholarship where she studied portraiture under Daniel Greene, NA. Katherine believes strongly in continuing studies, and has attended workshops by Michelle Dunaway, Jill Carver, and John MacDonald. She also teaches workshops in her studio in Westfield, NY and in Buffalo, NY.
Katherine has won notable awards, including First Place, Portrait Society of America Members Only Competition, 2014; Best in Show at the NOAPS Best of America Small Works, 2019; Second Place, American Women Artists Online Exhibition, 2015; Finalist, ARC International Salon, 2020 and 2019; Third Place, Portrait Society of America Members Only Competition, 2015; Finalist in 3 categories in the Portrait Society of America Members Only Competition 2020, Award of Excellence, Plein Air Magazine, 2015; and Honorable Mention, Oil Painters of America Online Juried Show, 2018.
Katherine has been featured in articles in American Art Collector (Dec. 2019), International Artist Magazine (2015 and 2020), Southwest Art, Fine Art Connoisseur Magazine (many times, most recently Feb 2020), Fine Art Today, and The Art of the Portrait.
Katherine is currently represented by Castle Gallery of Fine Art in Fort Wayne, IN, and RS Hanna Gallery in Fredericksburg, TX.
