Danni Dawson received her BA and MFA degrees from George Washington University, and apprenticed with world-renowned painter, Nelson Shanks. Danni, a professional artist and teacher for over 45 years has exhibited her paintings nationally and internationally, and has received many awards including the Allied Artist Award, the Salmagundi Painting Prize, the Audubon Award, and an award for painting from the National Academy of Art and Design. Her work has been featured in American Artist.
The awards are for figure painting and still life. Danni tries to focus equally on portraits, still life, and figure painting. Her paintings are in many private art collections throughout the United States, France, and Italy.
With hundreds of portraits to her credit, Danni Dawson has painted dignitaries, heads of major corporations, university officials, as well as members of the judicial system, the military, and medical communities. Most notable are Justice Sandra Day O’Connor for the United States Supreme Court, Frank Saul for Chevy Chase Bank, and Carla Hall, chef and co-host on ABC’s The Chew. Danni’s figure, still life, portrait paintings, and sculpture are displayed in collections throughout the world.
Danni is currently working on a piece of public sculpture for a park in Arlington County, Virginia.
