Caleb O'Connor

United States

Caleb O’Connors work is best known for his figurative realism in both oil painting, marble and Bronze sculptures.  His work is often characterized as magic realism due to his ability to capture figures in motion and seemingly impossible situations that are made believable through attention to detail.  Throughout all of his works is a continuous exploration of nature and the human experience in this world.  Every figure in his works is a particular person created from direct observation with great care in rendering facial expression and body language.  It is a belief of O’Connor that his ability to work with multiple materials allow him to combine methods and materials to create unique works of art suited uniquely for a particular environment with the engineering and design being the only constraints.  Currently the artist focuses mainly on public artworks due to his personal belief that artwork has the power to promote mental health by beautifying the environment, stimulating thought, and becoming a part of community and regional identity.
