“This large plein air painting was created over the course of five evenings. I was initially captivated by how the farm seemed to tumble down the hillside, but once I got my bearings, and realized how the setting sun would be lighting them up, everything was organized around my anticipation of the evening light.

“Each evening deepened my understanding of the light, subject, and setting. Locals stopped to visit, some checked my progress each night, others to share their version of how the place became abandoned.” – Joshua Cunningham
