I have done a number of paintings of this intersection in Charleston, SC, all from different points of view, and incorporating different buildings. When I found this ramshackle house, I knew that it would make for a beautiful juxtaposition of grit and glory, mankind and nature, the dirt of history and the sunlight of our potential as a culture.
