In this artwork, "The Trophy", my friend from Africa, a great model, is holding a mountain goat skull. My student brought this skull to me as a gift who works at a zoo. I painted it with a limited palette about four to five colors in total. I was fascinated with the grand size and design of the horns. The figure modeled for me in my studio in a natural light. The background was painted with imagination. The time of day, dusk, and the color selection was an artistic choice which I thought would make the subject matter dramatic.
